We have changed our name from The Royal Berkshire 10K to Reading 10K & Family Fun Runs
Venue & Parking – Our venue is Green Park in Reading just off junction 11 of the M4. Longwater Avenue, Reading, RG2 6GP.
The event village & start/finish are a short walk from the official car parks which are provided by Reading Football Club (£5 cash on the day). You can find your own parking, come by bike and use the bike lockup in the event village, or use Greenwave buses from the town centre.
Race Day Schedule – Our races are scheduled to allow you time to run with family and friends in the mini races before the 10K race.
Mini Mile – Warm Up 8.20am – Race Start 8.30am
Mini Marathon Warm Up – 9.05am – Race Start 9.15am
10K Race – Warm Up 10.20am – Race Start 10.30am
Adults running in the mini races will also receive a race t-shirt, results and medal. If you have entered the 10K or prefer just to run and support your child you do not need to enter.
Race Routes – The mini races are out and back routes entirely within the Green Park campus, they are on fully closed roads and marshals are there to guide and look after the runners.
The 10K route leaves Green Park and uses fully closed roads around Pingewood Lakes.
The route is all road, UKA permitted and has a cirtificate of course accuracy. Results are submitted to Power of Ten.
The route is marked in Kilometres and there are two water stations at roughly 3.5K and 7.5K.
Race Village – Our race village will be full of music and flags. There will be a help desk for any last minute issues, a kit tent, catering and coffee vans, charity stalls, sponsors and of course pre and post race massage from North Hampshire Sports Massage.
Longwater lake is surrounded by landscaped parkland which is ideal for a picnic while you are waiting for friends and family to finish their race.
The race village is just a short walk from the car parks and has bike lock up facilities at 100 Brook Drive.
Race Experience – We are keen to ensure that everyone regardless of their ability enjoy’s the day. We have pace runners at five-minute intervals to help you reach your target time. There are live bands and DJs to keep you motivated. Our generous race cut off time will allow everyone to get back into Green Park before we open the public roads.
We have two route water stations (recyclable cups to avoid plastic bottles). At the finish we give out water. We do not give out goody bags as it’s just more plastic but we do have great medals!
